Christian Groups Try To Put A Stop To Lady Gaga’s Performance In Philippines

Global superstar Lady Gaga’s plans for an arena show in the Philippines has been threatened, as Christian campaigners have been calling for the show to be cancelled.

Lady Gaga arrived in the Philippines to crowds of religious protesters who were insisting that the star ‘stops the blasphemy’ and cancels her show which was due to be played on two dates in the 20,000-seat Mall of Asia.

The majority of protestors who are hoping to put an end to Gaga’s plans for a show in the area, largely consist of members from the Bilblemode Youth Philippines group. Members of the group claim to be deeply offended by Gaga’s music and its blasphemous lyrics, especially the lyrics to one of her biggest hits ‘Judas’ which they feel ‘mocks Jesus Christ’.

Lady Gaga is no stranger to controversy and has been known to come up against these issues in other parts of the world. During a previous visit to Seoul in South Korea, in order for her to perform her show had to be changed to an over-18’s only gig. The star was even denied a concert permit to perform in Indonesia by the police.

Despite this, the organisers of the Philippines based show are adamant that the show will go ahead and have insisted that they will not be cancelling their plans, telling protestors that the show ‘will not pose a threat to their sense of morality and conduct’.

Gaga’s ‘Born This Way Ball’ will shortly be heading to the UK where two shows will be taking place in London’s Twickenham stadium.
