Tony Bennett’s Still Got Flare At 85!

At the age of 85, Tony Bennett has had huge success with his new album ‘Duets II’ featuring collaborations with Lady Gaga as well as the late Amy Winehouse. The success of his record, have meant Bennett has become the oldest living performer to top the US charts.

 

The impressive album has sold 179,000 copies in its 1st week, taking it to the highest spot, the record is also his first American number one hit throughout his career, which spans sixty years.

 

Tony Bennett, the multiple Grammy award winner, has previously reached number three in the US charts with sales of 202,000 for his original ‘Duets’ album in 2006.

 

Prior to Bennett, the previous oldest performer to top the chart was Bob Dylan with ‘Together Through Life’ in 2009 aged 67 years old.

 

The ‘Duets II’ album, which is currently available to purchase both online and in stores features his duet of ‘The Lady Is a Tramp’ with Lady Gaga. This song was initially featured in the Rodgers and Hart musical ‘Babes in Arms’. This song is an old-time classic, having been released by iconic artists including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr and Shirley Bassey.
