V Festival took place over the weekend in Chelmsford’s Hylands Park and Staffordshire’s Weston Park. Essex star Olly Murs said his appearance at Hylands Park in Chelmsford was one of the best days of his life. He said seeing his friends and family in the audience had been a great moment. When asked to sum up his day, Olly responded “I’ve had the most brilliant day and I’ve got it all recorded on DVD, so I’m going to watch it when I get home!”

Other acts that performed at V Festival included Tinie Tempah, Ellie Goulding, Katy B, Kaiserchiefs, Hard-Fi, Kids in Glass Houses, Lost Prophets, Bruno Mars, Jessie J, Chase and Status, Plan B, Dizzee Rascal as well as many others. Headliners included the legendary Eminem and sensational Rihanna.

More than 80,000 fans attended V festival each day. There were hundreds of police officers on duty, patrolling the festival due to the large crowds. Huge festivals, such as V unfortunately attract a lot of crime as well as many injuries. At V this year there were in excess of one hundred arrests, mainly due to drug possession by festival goers; additionally first-aiders treated eight hundred injuries.

V Festival is a substantial festival that grows in size every year, this year having been bigger than ever before. Preparations are already taking place for next year’s 2012 Festival.
